Geography
About the size of Delaware, Brunei is an independent sultanate on the northwest coast of the island of Borneo in the South China Sea, wedged between the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.

History
Brunei was trading with China during the 6th century, and, through allegiance to the Javanese Majapahit kingdom (13th to 15th century), it came under Hindu influence. In the early 15th century, with the decline of the Majapahit kingdom and widespread conversion to Islam, Brunei became an independent sultanate. It was a powerful state from the 16th to the 19th century, ruling over the northern part of Borneo and adjacent island chains. But Brunei fell into decay and lost Sarawak in 1841, becoming a British protectorate in 1888 and a British dependency in 1905. Japan occupied Brunei during World War II; it was liberated by Australia in 1945.
The sultan regained control over internal affairs in 1959, but Britain retained responsibility for the state's defense and foreign affairs until 1984, when the sultanate became fully independent. Sultan Bolkiah was crowned in 1967 at the age of 22, succeeding his father, Sir Omar Ali Saifuddin, who had abdicated. During his reign, exploitation of the rich Seria oilfield had made the sultanate wealthy. Brunei has one of the highest per capita incomes in Asia, and the sultan is believed to be one of the richest men in the world. In Aug. 1998, Oxford-educated Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah was inaugurated as heir to the 500-year-old monarchy.
Sultan Bolkiah began taking cautious steps toward democratic reform in Sept. 2004, when he reinstated Parliament for the first time since Brunei gained independence in 1984. He was widely praised in May 2005 when he fired four members of his cabinet, including the education minister, whose plan to expand religious education angered many parents.

a little bit info about BRUNEI...have been there a few times before as my brother worked at BERNAMA STRAITS TIMES. amazed with their mosque and palace. love being there as it is a small country. boleh la kalo nak habis round brunei tu lam sehari..=) enough bout me being there...now its our turn to bring the visitors from brunei to visit malacca as they were really amazed with malaysia.. they were really appreciate all the beautiful and history of Malaysia.. how i magine that Malaysian people will be like that..
all the visitors around 13 people stayed in Pengkalan Balak chalet. tepi laut tuh..nyaman sungguh bah... in order to take the opportunity, k.ngah and i took this chances to serve food to them in buffet style.. everyday we ollz kene masak for them.penat la jgk. mane tak nye... bangun before pukul 5 pagi.buat brkfst tuk dieorg, pastuh p anta kat chalet..pastu p bli brg2 tuk wat dinner plak. seb bek xbuat lunch sbb deorg mkn kat luar sbb ade g lawatan2.. tapi penat la coz spnjg mase duk kat dapur je sediakan makanan smpi aku pown da xlarat tgk makanan.huhuh...its ok sbb we love to celebrate people who come to malacca. sng cter family aku nie hati besar kalo ade visitors..aku pown layankan aje...
3 hari dieorg kat sini.rabu,khamis,jumaat.. angah yg jadik tourist guide siap wat iterinari program lagik. yang jadik mangsanye akula.. sebab aku cuti..so..kenela tlh die..xpela..dari aku tido je an..ade gak la keje.. paling bestnye ngan dieorang malam khms la..sbb kteorg wat BBQ kat tepi panta..pergghh...da lme xrase..bayu laut menghebus sayu2...nyaman bah...n once again..aku jadik mangsa kene wat bakar2..xpela...suke sbb kenyang bakar2 nie..xyah makan.hahaha....
tapi serius penat sbb da 2 hari xcukop tido.n esok la last nk melayan depa.tapi aku sonok.even yang dtg nie sume org2 kampung,dieorg ade mission n vision utk majukan kampung dieorg..kalo kat MALAYSIA nie..nk tgk org cmtuh..sshla..p jln tmpt org,shopping je..aku salute ngan visitors nie sebab semangat dieorg tggi tuk majukan diri..pastuh adela borak2 ngan sorang pak cik nie.die tanye aku umo bpe,wtpe skang..aku ckpla blaja kat uitm amik ukur bahan.then pak cik tu tros kate bagos tu bah..nanti blh dtg brunei kerja.die kate peluang cerah la apela..mcm2 die ckp.aku jdk kagum ngan die sbb die org kampung je.duk kat kampung air kat brunei tu tapi taw bout QS.mmg cayalah pak cik.. tu tandanye org dr ngra lain,ilmu pengetahuan dieorg tggi walaupown hanya org tua yg duk kat kg yang xtggi educationnye..so..malaysian people..sedarla..jgn take advntge ats kekurangan diri..jgn jdkkn excuse ye..we need to improve our knowledge in mind..not to show off but as a basic for our life..
